ECU City Campus

Education, Government

ECU’s landmark $853 million City Campus will transform Perth’s CBD by creating the first comprehensive university situated in the city center. This visionary 60,000 sq.m. campus will serve as an anchor for future-focused learning, research, creativity and industry connectivity.

Slated to open in 2026, the multi-disciplinary City Campus will house ECU’s renowned Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), Schools of Business/Law, Arts/Humanities, Science programs and Indigenous center. World-class facilities will include six public performance venues for WAAPA’s 300+ annual productions, digital media façade, immersive entrance plaza, smart labs, film/TV studios, art studios, public gallery/event spaces and next-gen learning commons.

A collaborative Australian/WA government partnership under the Perth City Deal, the state-of-the-art campus aims to enliven the city core by introducing a community of over 10,000 students and staff. It will be a launchpad for future creators, innovators and leaders while delivering $7.5 billion in long-term economic impacts.

The project’s construction phase alone will generate up to 5,000 jobs, injecting hundreds of workers into the CBD daily at peak periods. Through the managing contractor Multiplex, the development will also create opportunities for apprenticeships, Aboriginal businesses and employment diversity.

With its prime CBD location, activated streetscapes and cutting-edge facilities, ECU City Campus represents an integral investment in Perth’s future as a world-class destination for education, culture and urban vibrancy. This iconic development will strengthen ECU and WA’s leadership in higher education on a global scale.
